Taking part in the study

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Oxfam Australia If Then Give research.

As part of this research, we’re testing a concept and pre-release software with real users interacting with the product in a real environment. From identifying critical bugs to providing general opinions and ideas about the concept, this test will allow potential future donors to be involved in the development of the If Then Give app. As a tester you have a chance to experience a new product firsthand, share your insights and ideas with the researcher and help Oxfam create engaging ways to connect with global issues. Learn more about how to take part.

How can I take part?

We are looking for a wide range of people who will use the If Then Give App for up to 6 months. Do you want to help Oxfam develop new ways for people to connect with the world around them by piloting the app? In order to take part in this pilot, you need to fulfill the criteria below and download the app. We will ask you to use it however and as frequently as you like for up to six months.

What does it involve?

To take part in this pilot, you are required to download an app (iOS and Android) to your mobile phone. You will also be required to create an If Then Give account within the app During the registration, we will capture some demographic information about you that will help us to better understand how people are using the app. For more information about how we will use this information, please read our privacy page here.

Participants like you will be invited to start using the app in waves from February 2022 onwards. To guarantee the best performance for all users, we may temporarily restrict new registrations by using a queue that works on a first come first serve basis.

For the following weeks, and until the end of this research, you will be free to use the app however and as frequently as you like. From time to time we will invite you to complete a questionnaire about your experiences of using the app. While participation in these questionnaires is highly appreciated, participation is voluntary and there is no requirement to participate in the questionnaires in order to use the app.

Who can take part

This pilot is open to anyone (over the age of 18) who accepts the If Then Give Terms and Conditions and provides informed consent to participate in the pilot. We are looking for a wide range of people who will use the If Then Give App for up to 6 months. You do not need to be tech-savvy to participate nor do you need to be an existing Oxfam supporter. The app is exclusively in English 1 so there is a requirement you can engage with the English language. In addition to this, you must own a compatible smartphone and be willing to donate a minimum of AU$10.00 of your own money through the If Then Give app.

In order to comply with regulatory requirements and our research ethics, you must be 18 years or older to take part in this research and use the app. You will not be able to take part in this research or use this app if your circumstances may unduly influence your decision to consent or you are part of a vulnerable group. If you are unsure whether any of the exclusion criteria apply to you, please contact us by sending an email to hello@ifgive.app.
